Osiyo - hello
My name is Svhiyeyi Aga - which means Evening Rain in Cherokee. I was gifted this name by a wonderful Cherokee Elder, known as the Great White Owl, who has since passed on. He came to my rescue at a time in my life when I was being hounded by some difficult people on the internet. Back in 1999 and 2000, there were few, if any, internet laws to protect us from harassment and stalking. I don't really know why or what started this group into doing what they did and saying what they did about me back then - all untruths and many hurtful things. I was, by no means, their only target, it was just how it was back then and even today, there are people who are singled out for this type of response from strangers.

I believe now, it was a lesson and a challenge given to me by Creator for learning. How would I respond to them? How would I handle this challenge? I admit, initially I did not handle it in the best way I could. I responded in anger and hurt and that is never a good way to deal with such challenges. It only adds fuel to fire this anger they have within them. The flames of their inner fire would strike out at people and it was dangerous and hurtful, but to respond to them at all, was not a good way to resolve it, that is what I learned. My Teacher, brother, friend and protector, the Great White Owl, told me it was up to me to accept his gift of my name, Evening Rain. I have another name - given to me in ceremony and one I later learned in my journey of reconnecting to my Cherokee blood, that I should not share or say in public or to strangers. It's my Spirit Name and the name in which I shall be recognized in the Spirit World when I cross over to Nightland.

Great White Owl's gift of the name Evening Rain to me, was to protect me from these people, but he said it was also because of my writing. He told me, "Your writing is like a gentle rain that washes away hurt and sadness in your life and that of others." I accepted his gift with gratitude and honor, to think he cared that much about me as a friend and sister in spirit to protect me as a good warrior will always do.

Great White Owl crossed over into the spirit world several years ago, after a courgeous battle with cancer. I was able to visit with him and his lovely wife before his passing. I wanted to see him and tell him personally of my gratitude to him for everything he had given to me - his teachings are a rare and precious gift that will remain with me for the rest of my life.

I know that we will meet again. We will meet in the place of spirit, where there is no pain, only love and happiness and connecton to all our relations. We will learn more than we can imagine in the Spirit World and we will continue to give and work in the way Creator wants each of us to do.

The Cherokee have a saying, "one drop of blood, and you
are Cherokee. It doesn't matter whether I have a "card"
or not, what matters most of all, is that this is who I
am, who I have always been. It is what is in our blood,
our spirit and our hearts, what our Ancestors gave to us
that helps to create the person we become. We have a choice.
But I believe, we are "chosen" or led down a road, a
path, however you may want to refer to it, and once we stop
resisting, once we follow what we feel in our heart and
spirit, that is when we will find the right place to be.
Who we are.

I am also a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister,
a friend, a woman.
I am a grandmother.
I am 58 years old and my life has been one of many
experiences and lessons,
both good and bad and some truly wonderful and special.

I can say what I feel and no longer feel the need to seek
the approval or acceptance of others.

I try to live my life in a good way
and here I can share many parts of my life with others.
My writing comes from my heart and spirit.
It is a precious gift I believe, and so I try to gift it back,
to others, to life, to myself and hopefully,
to all who may read what I have written.

My hope is, that in some way, who I am,
what you see here, feel, and remember,
will in some small way touch your heart and soul.

That is one of the most important things of all in life.

"Indian blood is like gold...
No matter how thinly it is spun
It still shines just as brightly."

Chief Carl Grey Owl Griggs
Northern Cherokee Nation

The words of Chief Grey Owl Griggs reminds us,
that it is not the "quanity" of our blood, but
the Indian blood within us, will never cease to
exist. It is what makes us, as native people,
strong, proud, determined and unique.
My Family has always been strong, proud and
determined. For each, perhaps a different
call may have been heard, but there are some
things we can never change.

So, I use the Cherokee Greeting here to
all of you, who visit this website.

Welcome!

I will draw thorns from your feet.

We will walk the White Path of Life together.

Like a brother or sister of my own blood,
I will love you.

Candle Across America Campaign

Please visit this beautiful site - a tribute to all our Veterans.
Please click on the candle.

Please remember our Veterans - not only in tributes........
but remember them every day and fight for their rights
to receive treatment and services they deserve
for the sacrifices they made for all of us.

Let's stop the Hate......
Let us make every day of every year,
one with peace in the world for all people
and one of prayer, in gratitude for all we are given.

Honor each other, honor the earth, and peace will come.

The Cherokee believe in the White Road - of Life and
Peace. This I always strive for. It's not always an easy
task, but we can do it - live in peace together and
work together to heal our earth.

This we must do not only for ourselves, but
for the generations to come.

The graphic of the elder Grandmother is not me. But it is how I see myself at this stage in my life. One thing we do have in common, we both have the same cane. "smiles" I relate strongly to this image for some reason, and so it will be who I am here, in my website of truth and fantasy, sadness and joy, sharing my life openly and with truth. Those that know me well, know how open I am - my heart is always open to the good people I have been blessed to meet thus far in my lifetime. I have met bad people too, who have hurt me and again, the hurtful things they have done, have been a difficult lesson for me, but we are here on this earth to learn, to grow in spirit, to learn to put aside our feelings of hate and anger, to accept responsibility for the wrongs we have committed, and to always forgive.

If I have ever hurt you, I am sorry, please forgive me. If you have hurt me, I forgive you. It is time for the great healing of this earth - our Earth Mother must heal or we will all perish. She is the giver of life in every way. We women are the life givers too and we shall lead the way to the good road of peace and healing and acceptance.

May our Creator bless you all - may we connect in heart and spirit through this special place I hope I can create, so that we can connect from every corner of Mother Earth and learn to respect one another, accept one another for who we are, and to live in peace as brothers and sisters, children of the Great Mystery, the Creator of all living things that exist upon our earth, in the heavens and in every corner of the universe.

Our website has been visited many times,
by people from all over the world. Thank you!
