I admit it. I have become a PAINT SHOP PRO TUBE ADDICT!
I LOVE Paint Shop Pro.
Paint Shop Pro is a wonderful program and like so many others before me, I have become addicted to tubes, making my own graphics from scratch or in using digital photographs I have taken of many places in the area in which I live and places where we have traveled. That has led me to create a lot of digital art. I love it - it's my passion and it keeps me well-occupied.
When I first met PSP - Jasc was the company who made the program and the version I had at that time was 6. From Version 6, I upgraded to 7, then 8, then 9. Jasc Paint Shop Pro Version 9 remains my favorite of all the versions that have been made so far. I also have Version 10 and the most recent version, 12.
Up until Version 9, Paint Shop Pro was sold by Jasc Corportion. I loved Jasc too! You could call them direct and they were so helpful - they would answer your questions and help you out the best that they could with the program or with any problem you might be having. Their customer service was excellent and I am sorry to say this, but I think that is a thing of the past.
Sometime after Version 9, I believe, Jasc was taken over by Corel and Corel is the company that now produces PSP. I have acquired a lot of Corel's software over the years too, but while it's a good company with some excellent software, their customer service will never measure up to the great folks at Jasc. As with most things these days, send in an email for technical support or problems.
I can't make PSP tubes myself. I've tried. But due to health reasons, I don't have the fine hand dexterity needed to make a good, clean tube. I've been spoiled over the years. I have acquired my tubes from some of the most talented tube makers on the internet from all over the world.
But when I first started out, Winters Tubes was one of the only websites on the internet that offered American Indian themed tubes and well-made excellent tubes! I think I have every tube that Winter and the Old Guy have ever made. "grins" I just love their tubes.
They have a great website where they not only offer tubes, but they offer graphics, tags, puzzles and calendars and many are now made by members of their group. So, they will always have a special place in my heart because they were the very first - and I'm so grateful they are still online and active today. Winter and the Ole' Guy are great folks-generous, helpful and fun. Check their website out - you won't be disappointed.
PSP saved my sanity!
In 1996, I became ill and had to leave my job. I was very down - I had worked all my life since I was 14 years old and suddenly I found myself at home, not working and not able to do all that much either.
In 1999, I got my first PC. In surfing the web and meeting new people, I wanted so much to learn how to create my own website and so I started on my quest to learn how. There are so many sources on the internet to help you with this. I started out using Notepaid as a html editor and wrote mostly all the code by hand. I found the html codes, typed them all out and I'd sit down and follow them in learning how to insert a photograph, or how to do so many things.
Now, I use a "fancy" notepad, which provides a lot of the coding, but it's a simple program and of all the programs I have tried (I'm a software addict too - lol) - I like it the best. It's simple, affordable, and reliable. It's called NoteTab Pro.
It's possible to create a website without any knowledge of html or the other codes that are used in creating a website. There are many affordable software programs available today that can do it for you. Some websites that offer hosting space have built-in site builders that do mostly all the work for you. But it's a good idea to learn the basic codes, because there will be times you will need to tweak some code, or copy and paste a specific code in your webpage.
As time passed, my health has worsened considerably. While I am not always able to ambulate like I once could, I can still use my mind and learn new things and enjoy the gift PSP and software has given to me. I can't draw a straight line, but I can produce some beautiful digital art work. The images and the original artwork is not mine of course and like all PSP tube addicts I am extremely grateful to the generous artists who have given permission for their artwork to be made into PSP tubes or made into the format Photo Shop users have.
I can create beautiful scenes for my website, for tags and greetings - all for personal use only and not to make any monetary profit at all. Every single tube maker I have met in the past years, not one of them uses the artwork of others to make money for themselves. The tubes they do create and it's hard work making a good tube, they freely share with anyone. All they ask, is that you not change their file names, and that you not upload their tubes to any websites or collections for sale in any way.
The original artists are good enough to let tubers use their artwork and that should be respected always. The amazing part of all of this to me, is think of all the hands and hearts and talents that have come together to create such beautiful images of every subject and image you can image. In the resulting digital art that comes from all of this and all of us, is a combination of the talents, spirits and hearts of many people across the globe. Through this special medium that we all enjoy, we have become closely related.
The tubes, images, graphics, tags and digital art we all share freely with others, brings a lot of joy to people. We are creating beauty together and there can never be too much beauty in our world.
The following links are to some great artists and websites that not only provide Paint Shop Pro Picture tubes, but in many cases, provide free graphics and more for use on your personal website. If you visit, please be sure to sign their guestbook and let them know you were there and say thank you to all of them for creating such beauty for all of us to enjoy. I am also very indebted to the tutorials many provide in helping me to learn how to make other creative projects.
Yahoo groups probably has hundreds of PSP group mailing lists, where tubes and tutorials and so much is shared. I have met some wonderful people because of Paint Shop Pro. Check out Yahoo groups for groups that are primarily for PSP and join a few. You will learn a lot, get some outstanding, beautiful tubes of all types and meet some great people.
Winter Tubes was the first website where I found American Indian/First Nations tubes. They do outstanding work and are the nicest folks around!
http://www.winterstubes.com/ - I can never say thank you enough to Winter and the Old Guy! They make wondeful Native American Indian Picture tubes - the best I've seen so far! I have used many of Winter's and the Old Guy's tubes in creating graphics and digital art and I am so grateful to them for creating all of these for us to use on our websites. They are two very talented people! The Old Guy made the most beautiful raven tube for my husband, Raven Wolf, and I am so very grateful to him. They also offer beautiful wallpapers for your desktop... and they have a mailing list you can join!
VERY SAD NEWS ABOUT THE OLD GUY. Winter notified all of us on her mailing list that the Old Guy as he was so well known, Ken, crossed over. He passed away a few weeks ago (July 2009-date of this entry). My deepest sympathy to Judy (Winter) and to Ken's family for his loss. He was quite a guy and a real character; a very talented tube maker who was so generous with his time and talents. He will be greatly missed.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THESE LINKS:
It's virtually impossible to keep links up-to-date all the time. I have provided some here as a courtesy to you; however, I cannot guarantee the links as being active, etc. If you want to search for PSP picture tubes, Yahoo groups has a lot of lists that caters to providing free tubes of all types. Search through their group listings to find a list that may be of interest to you. You can also find tubes by using Google. Just type in Paint Shop Pro Tubes or PSP tubes and the version - 8 or 9 or 10 - whatever you want and you will find plenty of tubes online. Be careful however, and always scan what you download from online although I have never had any problems with downloading tubes from any website, myself.
Happy tube surfing!
Pixel Art by Joyce
Pixel Art by Joyce is an outstanding Paint Shop Pro Tube website, not only does she
offer us free PSP Tubes for personal use, but her tubes are outstanding! She also offers
tutorials and other freebies for your use under some conditions. what a beautiful website!
Here are some artists that have granted their permission to many PSP tube makers to make tubes from their outstanding artwork:
Priscilla Hillman
Mark Charneski
Nita Showers
Peggy Abrams
Animal Tubes
Sue Dreamer
Beryl Cook
DAZZ'S Tubes
The Electron Sea Graphics Building Blocks List
There are many other websites that offer you the usage of the Paint Shop Pro Tubes they have created. I have found many of these using Google's Search engine - just type in Paint Shop Pro Picture Tubes or PSP 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 7 or 6 (whatever version you are using) and you'll be amazed at how many websites you will discover, as well as some great Tutorials. I have a lot to learn yet - but I am having so much fun. I use Paint Shop Pro 9 for making digital art and graphics, tags and so many other things. Version 12 is my favorite for fixing and enhancing your digital photographs. Paint Shop Pro is a wonderful program and I highly recommend it, if you want to make your own graphics and artwork. There are many features to Paint Shop Pro and it's very user friendly. Click HERE to visit the Corel website where you can purchase Paint Shop Pro and many other software programs. They often offer trial periods for their software.
Most, if not all, of the graphics throughout this website have been created using Paint Shop Pro and many with my own digital photographs as backgrounds or scenes for usage with PSP tubes.
I use my own digital photographs or have created the graphics in the Paint Shop Pro Program, using Picture Tubes. I also have many of these featured at Webshots, including video presentations with digital artwork I have done. I also have a space at You tube under the screen name of Grannyrain.
Many of the pages within this website, are made especially for greeting pages. You can send the link to the page to your friends, etc., as a greeting, using your own email program. That way, it is completely private since you are not required to complete any forms or join this site in order to access these web greeting pages.
The greeting pages are one of a kind and no two digital art graphics are the same. However, due to illness and the work I have ongoing with my American Indian/First Nations and Indigenous news ezine and special featured website, My Two Beads Worth, I have been very neglectful of my personal website. I plan on spending most of December 2008, working exclusively on updating my website here.
There is so much work to be done! Hundreds of pages, you can't imagine how much there is. At one point, I was also using free web sites so I could conserve on my paid website, but one free site I used, the owners who took it over, put links on all the most visited websites and the links lead to x-rated porn! I was shocked, mortified and very angry, since I had a few greeting pages for children! The guy just came in and did what he wanted, using our websites for his own traffic and so there was nothing that could be done but to leave the website.
I made a couple of websites there for friends too and the same thing happened to them. It was an awful thing to do. They offered free webspace but never said that our sites would ever be linked to porn. So, I have a lot of webpages that are greeting pages that need to be included on this website. I hope - I am going to try my very best to do as much as I can this winter to get this site updated and made more enjoyable for you.
The majority of these are of the American Indian theme and are free to send on the internet. There are many card sites that are now charging for you to send Greeting Cards.......so we hope you will take advantage of the graphics I have made to send to your friends and family.
I have created an entire new selection - these are one-of-a-kind and you won't find two alike. I use Paint Shop Pro, my own Digital Photographs and other software programs that I have to create these free online greetings.
At Webshots, I have a variety of greetings - not all are of American Indian design. These greetings are created by me, using software programs I have purchased and my own digital photographs. Again, tubes used to create the special effects in this artwork are the creation of the person who originally made the PSP tube, as well of course, as the talented artist (s) who have given permission for their artwork to be used.
I do this for pleasure - yours and mine. I make no money or any profit whatsoever from doing this. And it seems, from the statistics provided by Webshots (which by the way, I also pay a 6-month fee for extra storage) shows that people do enjoy sending the greetings. That's the entire point - enjoyment and it's free - and no hidden gimmicks either. Like pop-up ads, or like with many other programs, your isp number is recorded and they maintain information on us, as our surfing habits. I don't think this is right and also many of them will sell our ISP numbers to spammers. Spam is an overwhelming problem on the net today and some of this unwanted spam is quite disgusting to say the least.
That is another reason why I decided to offer my digital art in this way. Because everytime we use greeting pages or cards from some sites, we are opening ourselves up to more spam as well as providing information to these sites about the people we might send these greetings to. If you notice, some of these greeting sites, will have a line at the top of their greeting that says, click here and join our mailing list, and then below that, the link for you to receive your greeting - it's deceptive, I think, because it's too easy for us to mistakenly click on the link to join a list we may not wish to join.
It seems that less and less becomes "free" on the net today and I can understand that. It does cost money for software and there is time and effort put into doing this - how well I know!
But this is another option for you and I - there are many sites, like ours, that offer free greetings without gimmicks. My personal feeling is, I'd much rather use a site like this, then to use one that encourages spam and is not always so honest when it comes to telling you and I what they do with
our information.
We're going to be offering some greetings for children - Little People's Greetings.
You will find these on our main index page - these new greetings will be listed separately.
There are laws that have been put into place to protect children 13 and younger. Please read
this for your own information and please be careful on the internet about what personal information you may provide. And Parents - be sure to surf with your Children! Let's keep our precious little ones safe!
I am more than willing to share graphics with you that you may see at Webshots - Evening Rain and would like to use on your personal web page. I am also willing to make a special digital graphic for you as I enjoy making them so much - just ask me what you'd like to have done, and if I can do it, I'll try my best to make you happy. Evening Rain - put in subject line - GRAPHIC REQUEST
As I have listed in Terms of Usage I have few requirements - but one MAJOR one, is that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are any of my graphics to be used on any Adult Website that is not suitable for all viewers. Just drop me a line and ask me - a link back our page would be nice, but it's not necessary. Since I first came online, I've learned a lot of things.
I made one mistake in the very beginning before I knew much of anything, and unfortunately, that one innocent mistake led to me becoming the brunt of some stalking, harassing and a great many untruths spread around the internet by some negative individuals.
So be careful. There are people out there who are, just as in the real world, not very nice.
Just like the "neighborhood gossip" we can all picture in our mind's eye, these folks are that and more.
But hey - there's so many more GOOD AND GENEROUS PEOPLE out there, who willingly share what they have created - offer free graphics, backgrounds, music, and much more, to assist in personal web site design.
Well, folks - I had to stand up and say YES! I AM A PAINT SHOP PRO ADDICT! And....I "know" that once you get involved with Paint Shop Pro - you'll be standing up and saying the same thing! "smiles"
Raven Wolf and I hope you have enjoyed our website - please return often, as we are always making additions, or changes. Please sign our guestbook to let us know you were here and use the map too - it's a neat feature. You can find the Map at the bottom of our Guestbook page - just click on it and you'll see what we mean.
GO TUBERS GO!
GENEROUS ARTISTS
PLEASE NOTE: Some of the tubes that have been created by the talented people listed above, are of the wonderful artwork of Mr. Peter Henri. Please click on the link below to learn more about this very talented artist.
Henri Peter
Howard Terpning
Maija
Teri Sodd
Lois Hulse
Lee Bogle
Karen Noles
Jon Lightfoot
There are many more. Not all artist names are available when tubes are shared on mailing lists but they are listed on the tubers' websites. As I get this information, I will continue to provide as detailed a listing as possible of the generous artists who so freely share their artwork to so many talented tubers.
Remember you cannot use this work for profit under any circumstances. If you did not create the artwork yourself or the tube, you cannot gain financially with it.
Please respect this as the artists are good enough to permit the tubers to use their artwork. They often have this information on their tubes and it is not visible to the naked eye - but it's there.
In all the years now that I have used Paint Shop Pro, I have never met a tuber or anyone who has used the artwork they have created to make money. It's done for pleasure. It's done for fun and enjoyment and to create beauty from beauty. Please be respectful and do not ruin it for so many people - thousands - who create art using Paint Shop Pro tubes.
