The River's Spirit calls to me, its life sound a melody....my lifeblood is one with it...and here I am a part of it.

On the banks that border its flow, I sit on damp sand from the evening rain. I am tired from the walk, my body needs to be here, at one with this place, again and again I always return, for this is my lifeblood, this River I love and the Spirit that flows, changing with each season, always replenishing my soul.

It's quiet and suddenly I hear, the loud caw of the crow, greeting me. I raise my eyes to the sky and there is brother crow. Aho! I say as I raise my walking stick, honoring my winged brother for welcoming me back to this very special place, so Sacred to me. The river that flows wild and free, quiet and shallow now, at the year's end...waiting for the wild winter rush of power to begin.

I sit and stare into the shallows....reflections mirror the towering trees - the pines, the white birch, oak and maple, standing tall, guardians of the river, brothers to me.

The river reflects a sight from long ago,

a small girl, who danced along the wooded paths, toward this river, her joyful laugh, welcomed by the crow, the chickadee, the tall, strong trees. A simple time. A time of peace. Innocence and Sacred Land, yet undefiled by the greed of man.

Peacefulness surrounds me, from the Spirit of the River, time has no meaning, only this moment....back long ago I have gone, to a gentle time.

The Spirit of the River calls to me, I am here where I want to be.
